Cuffie River Nature Retreat is located on the edge of the oldest protected rain forest in the western hemisphere. Turn south off the main north coast road and a two mile drive along a rough track will take you to the door of this charming retreat tucked away in the Runnemede Valley, alongside a stream and surrounded by lush vegetation.
There are just 10 simple rooms, each with a private balcony, tea & coffee making facilities and wi-fi. Regina, the owner, provides a very warm welcome and her kitchen produces some tasty Caribbean dishes. An elevated outside pool offers great views across the valley.
One could quite happily spend days watching the terrific bird life around the lodge but there are also a variety of guided tours that can be booked locally including rain forest walks, specialist bird watching guides, snorkelling trips, cultural tours and sailing.
