Introduction to Wellness Trekking with Bella Somerset
With an objective of providing wellness, mindfulness and a rejuvenation of self, this spiritual trek takes in the breathtakingly beautiful Annapurna range. The wellness programme incorporates morning meditation and holistic health coaching, amongst daily hiking. Health coaching helps gain a perspective on destructive behaviour patterns. Return from the Himalaya with tools to manage stress better.

Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal - a heady and extravagant tangle of contrasts. Rapidly developing and almost alarmingly hectic, Kathmandu is a city to awake the senses, but it is not without its spiritual and cultural side. The old quarter's back streets, while still teeming with life and an array of smells from spices to incense, offer a more colourful side to the city.

Day 2

A short guided meditation will be held this morning before departure.

Fly Kathmandu to Pokhara

A relatively small city and known as one of the main gateways to the Himalayas, Pokhara is one of the most popular destinations in Nepal. Visitors are greeted by the stunning Mt Machhapuchhre, which looms large and reflects in the still waters of Lake Taal. Activities in Pokhara include hiring a boat on the lake (Phewa Tal), which is the second largest in Nepal. Pokhara has an interesting old area as well as an elaborate Hindu temple and a Buddhist monastery. The lakeside area has good shopping opportunities and internet cafés. In the evening there is the option to dine out at one of the many fine lakeside restaurants.

Drive to Lumle and trek to Majhguan
Upon arrival, drive approximately 45 minutes to Lumle. From Lumle, start a leisurely trek to Majhgaun, a two hour walk. Trek through the rhododendron forest passing through small villages.

Pre-dinner coaching will focus on holistic wellness.

Day 3

Trek to Tikhedhunga
Start the day with the first meditation session in the Himalayas. Meditate in the surrounding of the lodge, with the beautiful view of the Himalayas. After meditation and breakfast, trek to Tikhedhunga via Birethanti, a large and prosperous town beside the Modi River. Head up the main trail to Sudami where we climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hile before heading to Tirkhe Dhunga.

Pre-dinner coaching - goals and intentions.

Day 4

Trek to Ghorepani
After the morning meditation session and breakfast, depart the lodge and cross the suspension bridge just beyond Tikhedunga. Trek uphill on a stepped trail to reach the village of Ulleri.

After lunch, continue the trek over several small hills, ascending through another stepped trail. En route there are several teahouses with refreshments on sale, as well as many small tribal homes. As altitude is gained this afternoon you are treated to glimpses of Annapurna South. Moving steadily higher into wooded areas of large bamboo trees and beyond Banthanti (2300m), the vegetation becomes increasingly dense. Emerging from the jungle at Nangathanti (2520m) after climbing more steps, a further hour of trekking brings us to Ghorepani. Although Ghorepani means 'horse watering place', there'll be lots of trekkers here in Ghorepani quenching their thirst, as this is the meeting point of several trails. Today the trek will take approximately six hours.

Pre-dinner coaching - primary food.

The morning meditation session at the lodge will be followed by breakfast. Start the days trek to Tadapani. From Ghorepani the trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960 m). Descend to reach Banthanti, before winding down to Tadapani (2665 m).

From here is it about an hour's trek up switch backs and steps to reach the village of Landruk. Landruk affords more glorious views of the Annapurna range. "Kate was calm and bent over backwards to accommodate my jitters about going to Kashmir in the light of tighter FCO guidelines just a few days before our departure. She was absolutely correct in advising against what I thought we should do. Several times during the holiday we said that, 'Kate was dead right about that!'."

"We asked for a rather particular kind of Indian holiday. You delivered it in full. Highlights? Honestly, each day was a highlight in itself. "
