These ingenious tented constructions are like nothing the Serengeti has seen before. Each Bush Rover Suite is a standalone unit, consisting of a spacious canvas tent mounted on a raised platform that sits on top of a modified Land Rover.
Flexibility and mobility are obvious advantages to the Bush Rover design - as the suite can be assembled or disassembled in an afternoon - but it is the elevated nature of the bedroom that really stands out. Unlike other mobile camps, which are at ground level, the Bush Rover Suites afford beautiful raised views of the Serengeti.
Each of the tented rooms is spacious and comfortable - simple, but home to a real double bed and proper linen. Beneath, the back of the Land Rover has been cleverly transformed into a bathroom. Each vehicle comes with a private chef, who will set up a tented kitchen nearby.
The Bush Rover Suite acts simply as a base from which to explore, and isn't used for game drives. This means that you are free to explore the Serengeti on game drives unencumbered, in search of the wealth of wildlife that is found here.
WHY WE LIKE IT
It is possible to tailor-make a Bush Rover itinerary in either the Serengeti or Selous (where two suites are based), with total flexibility and privacy.
However, five Bush Rover Suites move seasonally around the Serengeti, with time spent at a private campsite right beside the Mara River during the migration. This spot, which faces a crossing point on the river, is brilliantly located for witnessing wildebeests and zebras surging through the waters, without the hassle of other vehicles or even having to leave camp.
Bush Rover Migration Camp
Spend time in the northern Serengeti during migration season, staying right beside the Mara River, in a remarkably quiet area. Eight days from £5,195 per person, based on two people sharing, including international flights from the UK. Enquire now for more details.
