This tiny, tropical island lies off the coast off Mafia Island, midway down the Tanzanian Coast. An airy, spacious villa sits in front of the coralline white beach, whilst lush forest fills the interior of the island.
Secluded and exclusive, this tranquil island is just 350 metres wide, surrounded by a subaquatic network of unspoilt coral reefs.
Private and fully staffed, the beautiful villa can host 10 adults in five elegant suites, with room for up to nine children. For larger parties, banda-style beach huts and safari-style tents provide additional accommodation, allowing groups as large as 35 people.
The design of the villa is more minimalist Seychellois than Swahili, but it blends perfectly with the castaway setting. Light colours and natural woods decorate the interior, which feels fresh and relaxed. The rooms are filled with tropical sunlight and feature elegant four-poster beds that are draped with white mosquito nets.
WHY WE LIKE IT
This idyllic, desert-island escape offers an exclusive retreat amidst the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Not only is the setting beautiful, it is packed with marine life. The island sits at the heart of a marine reserve that is alive with fish and turtles, which swim amongst the rich coral landscape.
Whilst this tranquil setting is perfect for relaxation, activities abound around the island. Big game fishing is possible from a deep-sea catamaran and snorkelling with whale sharks can be experienced between October and February. At any time of year, sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking can all be enjoyed from the beach.
