Noel Rodrigo Leopard Safaris Wilpattu

Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris in Wilpattu is found on the edge of the forest, perfect for wildlife spotting, looked down upon by pink sunsets and the reflection of stars in the nearby lake.

After years of being off limits during the civil war, Wilpattu, the largest national park in Sri Lanka is certainly off the beaten track and a must visit park for the nature enthusiast.

Despite only having calling monkeys and birdsong for company Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safari campsites don't compromise on quality. The tents are comfortable, housing freshly made up beds and hot showers, focusing on renewable energy to conserve the delicate environment. During a stay here, and when not out on one of your twice daily game drives, walk through the campsite with a resident photography expert to get more out of your camera, learn the art of animal identification or relax in a hammock with a good book. The evenings are taken up with dinners served alfresco under vast open skies, stargazing and discussing the days sightings with drinks from the jungle bar around the open fire .

why we like it

For its peace and isolation. With more elusive wildlife the park is far from the main tourist route and as a result you have it pretty much to yourself with only the resident animals and expert guides for company.
