Activities at Horathapola Estate
Horathapola Estate lends itself wonderfully to relaxation but there are two great activities available. A bullock cart ride around the coconut plantation and a village walk in the surrounding village. There is also a swimming pool in the garden.
Drive from Horathapola to Sigiriya (Road Journey)
The 130 kilometre drive from Horathapola to Sigiriya will take approximately four hours.
Sigiriya is a large stone and ancient rock fortress and palace ruin in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. Sigiriya is also renowned for its ancient paintings (frescos), which are reminiscent of the Ajanta Caves of India. It is one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

Visit to Sigiriya Rock
Explore the ruins of the ancient city of Sigiriya with your English speaking guide. Climb up this rock column, which is surrounded by verdant royal gardens. Arrive at the rock entrance by 7 am to avoid the crowds and be amongst the first few visitors at the site. Sigiriya consists of 1,200 steps. The tour takes approximately two and a half hours.
