Phinda Private Game Reserve

Situated just north of Richards Bay in the Heart of KwaZulu Natal, stands the conservation success story that is Phinda Private Game Reserve. This large and geographically diverse reserve was once depleted farmland which was regenerated to create one of the best game reserves in South Africa, famous for its superior cheetah and rhino sightings.

Six very stylish lodges populate the reserve, each offering a unique accommodation experience suited to different requirements. Mountain lodge is social and inviting, Rock lodge is perched on a high rock outcrop with stunning views and eclectic décor. Vlei Lodge nestles in the lowlands with privileged views over a fertile game area and Forest Lodge is made up of glass sided rooms set in an ancient sand forest. Zuka and Homestead cater for families and groups looking for exclusive privacy.

Aside from the game drives conducted by some of the best guides in the business, time spent at Phinda can be divided between rhino walks, boat cruises, beach visits in search of turtles, scenic flights and cultural Zulu tours.

Why we like it

Because there is so much to do at Phinda, you have to stay longer to really experience everything there is to offer. A fantastic all round safari holiday in an area which is not visited by many but very popular with those in the know.
