Seychelles Holidays

Turtles nest on white-sand beaches, escaping the clear blue waters that entice so many people. This is the Seychelles. More than 100 islands form this archipelago nation, spread across a beautiful stretch of tropical ocean. Here, honeymooners relax on private islands, divers explore vibrant reefs and beach lovers lie upon unspoilt white sands.

WHY WE LIKE THE SEYCHELLES

Whereas the majority of the Maldivian resorts are built on tiny sandbars, around half of the islands of the Seychelles are more substantial with mountains, trees, villages and a local culture. This makes the Seychelles a perfect option for those who need more than a sun lounger. And the close proximity of the islands makes changing hotels relatively easy, adding variety to your holiday.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR HOLIDAY TO THE SEYCHELLES

The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands sitting in the middle of the Indian Ocean, halfway between Africa and India. More than just a beach paradise, the Seychelles is a living museum of natural history and a sanctuary for some of the rarest species on Earth. These include the smallest frog, the heaviest land tortoise and the only flightless bird of the Indian Ocean.

The Inner Islands - more accessible and home to some of the most impressive hotels - are granitic in nature. These rocky extrusions come with beautiful beaches but contrast starkly with the less visited Outer Islands. These are largely coralline in nature - more atolls than islands. Low lying and incredibly remote, they are barely inhabited, apart from by tortoises and an array of colourful bird species.

SOME IDEAS FOR A SEYCHELLES HOLIDAY

  • Totally perfect as a honeymoon destination except in December/January when it tends to rain a bit.
  • Perfect for February and October half term and Easter.
  • An underwater paradise - the Seychelles Islands are ideal for snorkelling and diving
  • The small distances between the islands make it the ideal island hopping holiday option.
  • Ideal destination for wildlife and bird enthusiasts with many endemic species

BEYOND THE ORDINARY

Charter a yacht and sail around the islands.

Please resist the urge to collect seashells along the beaches as many are used as habitation by hermit crabs. Collecting shells is prohibited in nature reserves, marine parks and reserves in Seychelles.  The unique and unusual tropical flora is beautiful and for it to remain so, it is important that you admire it,

but leave it for others to enjoy.  Any flora taken as souvenirs must have a certificate and an official export permit which must be produced, when checking in at the international airport.

We offer flights to the Seychelles from the UK with Emirates via Dubai. There are also a number of daily internal connections within the Seychelles to the smaller islands by air and sea. We also have a good choice of connections with Mauritius which enables us to tailor-make some superb two centre holidays.

The flying time is approximately 13 hours with overnight outbound flights. Although this is definitely a long-haul flight the small time difference between the UK and the Seychelles (3 hours in our summer and 4 in winter) means that jet lag is rarely a problem.

Some hotels have Wi-Fi throughout and some have limited it to certain areas only. You might need to pay for the service. Most hotels have a business desk on which you can access the internet.
