This beautiful collection of tented villas sits where Principe's dense rainforests meet the tropical beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Hidden beneath almond and banana trees, Praia Sundy looks out over warm waters, alive with marine life.
It is the only lodge of its kind on the island and is the perfect place to experience both beach and rainforest.
Why We Like It
This beautiful property manages to balance modern design and wonderful food with an immersive natural setting that perfectly encapsulates what Principe has to offer.
With the lodge positioned between verdant rainforest and tropical seas, it is ideally located for exploring both land and sea. A welcome massage is included as standard, whilst kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and snorkelling equipment are free to use.
All other activities can be arranged through the lodge. These include:
- Guided island and ocean tours
- Plantation visits
- Whale and turtle watching
- Guided biosphere trails
- Boat trips
- Unguided walking trails
- Scuba diving
- Bird watching
- Big game fishing
- Community visits.
Immersed in the surrounding forest, the 15 tented villas are distinctive in their weathered-wooden design – inspired by the fishermen’s huts that once lined this stretch of beach. Above these walls is an elegant tented roof that extends outwards, covering the beautiful wooden veranda. Inside, the tented villas are decorated with rich woods that contrast against the white of the canvas and are wonderfully spacious. They all have en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning.
Praia Sundy is located on Principe’s northern coastline, positioned between beach and rainforest. It is about 10 kilometres from the island’s tiny capital, Santo Antonio.
