Do not fall into the trap of pigeon-holing the Philippines as just another beach destination. There is a surprising amount to see and do in the Philippines, the people are incredibly friendly and travelling there comes with a real sense of adventure.
Why we like the Philippines
Talk to anybody that has been to the Philippines and the first thing they will describe is the friendliness of the people - a sunny demeanour and a friendly, warm disposition is seemingly a part of the country’s DNA. “Hello” in Filipino is roughly translated as “have you eaten?” Enough said.
What to expect on your Philippines holiday
If you get tired of snorkelling or diving off one of the 7,000 or so islands that make up the Philippines do not be disheartened - the archipelago’s jungles, mountains, volcanoes and caves are also ripe for exploration. Visit the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, where over 1,200 limestone mounds combine to fashion a landscape more akin to a science fiction movie. Visit the rice terraces and hanging graves of Cordillera or on Palawan, discover one of the new Seven Wonders of Nature - an underground river that runs through five miles of limestone caves and fossil-embedded tunnels. Go whale and dolphin watching, see the world’s smallest primate – the Tarsier, or for keen birders, visit the island of Mindanao, where the Philippine eagle has been known to swoop from the skies and attack monkeys!
