Steve Backshall

Steve Backshall is a popular and much-loved BAFTA award-winning television personality, amassing a vast following through his expeditions, adventures and physical challenges and is widely considered a leading light within the Factual Entertainment sector.

Steve has recently been on our screens presenting Expedition with Steve Backshall and the critically acclaimed Down The Mighty River for BBC2 in which he set out to explore one of the wildest rivers in the world, the Baliem, on the island of New Guinea. Steve has also presented the hugely successful Big Blue Live series that was broadcast live across the UK and USA from the Californian Blue Mountains.

In ‘Lost Land of the Jaguar’ Steve’s expedition through Venezuela involved the ascent of Mount Upuigma in Venezuela, sleeping attached to the cliffs he discovered new animal species at the summit.

Steve Backshall and Steppes Travel

We were delighted to have Steve talking at our last festival and also to host the charity he is the patron of Bite-Back that works tirelessly to protect shark species around the world.
