My journey into travel writing has been as long and as winding as the trails snaking through Yellowstone National Park (one of the standout stops on a road trip I took across Washington, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho). Now that I’ve arrived, however, I’m very much here to stay.

That self-drive road trip from the Pacific Northwest to Yellowstone National Park opened my eyes to the beauty of slow travel: exploring a place at my own pace and taking the time to experience the liminal space between destinations. It’s the car journeys through Washington’s snow-dusted forests and wide skies of Montana’s vast plains that have stuck with me the most.

In my role as the resident copywriter at Steppes Travel, I roam the world through words and photographs from the comfort of my desk, all the while adding to the neverending bucket list of destinations I’m desperate to experience for myself someday.

The cover of the album shows a young woman, fresh out of university, with a wide smile and a terrapin clutched between her hands.

There is something inherently captivating about the unknown, especially when it tugs at the fringes of the eerie and mysterious.

From deserted towns reclaimed by the desert to ossuaries made of human bones, there are places on this planet that seem to exist just beyond the veil of the ordinary.
