Six Senses Zighy Bay

Six Senses Zighy Bay is hidden away in a secluded fishing village on the Sultanate of Oman's Musandam Peninsula. The setting is dramatic with mountains as a backdrop for the near two-kilometre sandy beach. It is a villa only property with private pools at every turn, and home to a pretty marina. All villas have an outdoor dining space and gardens. For direct beach access choose a Beachfront Villa from which to enjoy amazing sunrises. The Six Senses Spa team offer a thorough wellness programme during your stay with visiting practitioners and yoga instructors on hand. There are four dining experiences at Six Senses Zighy Bay including the stunning mountaintop Senses on the Edge.

Why we like Six Senses Zighy Bay

A perfect winter escape, Zighy Bay offers a sublime climate, plenty of relaxation and adventure activities for those who want it.

  • Choice of restaurants including Spice Market, Summer House and Zighy Bar
  • 82 private villas, 17 with beachfront access occupying the front row of the beach, or the Private Retreat for families
  • Infinity pool and an additional saltwater swimming pool
  • Spa with hammam, sauna and gym
  • Beach with watersports and dive centre

During a stay at Six Senses Zighy Bay it is possible to design and customise activities and tours to suit all activity levels. A stay at Zighy Bay offers the opportunity to experience sunset cruises by dhow, rock climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, snorkelling, 4x4 drives and scuba diving.

Zighy Bay is a magical destination for children of all ages. The hotel offers the Chaica's Club for children from four years upwards. There are watersports, sand castles, treasure hunts, and some fun history lessons including Arabic events and local culture. The Teen Club offers adventure hikes, wadi swimming, canyoning or just learning new skills like archery, raft building and abseiling.

Cinema Paradiso keeps all the family entertained with movies on the beach under a blanket of stars while ushers serve five flavours of popcorn, 40 flavours of ice cream and soft drinks. Explore Arabic cooking with master chefs in the Organic Garden. Pick your ingredients before learning and practicing details of the wholesome nature that is prevalent in Arabic cooking. For younger guests, cookie and cake making are a fun but messy affair.

Six Senses Zighy Bay's social commitment includes activities such as giving support to the local Dibba Girl's School, Sharjah Charity International and Sukarina bin Al Husain School. Six Senses Zighy Bay not only makes donations and provides services to these charities; the hosts of the resort are also very involved in these social activities. The resort has a very active environmental program, following the universal commitment of the Six Senses group. There is an ongoing marine project to protect the reefs of the Musandam peninsula through education.

Zighy Bay produces all of its own water from a desalination plant on site and even sells its surplus to local areas (or gives it away). The fee that you pay for a bottle of water goes towards providing water to areas around the world where clean water is a luxury. Six Senses do this 'ecologically responsible' tourism very well indeed and it is superbly executed at Zighy Bay.

Although in Oman, the arrival airport is normally Dubai. A smooth road trip between the airport and hotel including the border crossing should take approximately two and a half hours. Zighy Bay is isolated, so there is no option for hopping in a taxi for the local town.
