A little more about Damaraland

The region is famed for the ancient petroglyphs of Twyfelfontein, created by the predecessors of the Namibian Bushmen, as well as the nearby petrified forests.

Desert-adapted elephants roam Damaraland, surviving in the harshest conditions, whilst populations of wild black rhinos can be found in the Palmwag Reserve and the environs of the remote Ugab River valley.

Born in a small South African town, I have always followed my passion for nature and discovery. After studying Nature Conservation in Pretoria, I was one of the first women to complete a very tough cadetship in the Natal Parks Board. It was here where I cut my teeth in African wildlife management.
