One of the newest ships on the river, the Strand Cruise takes its inspiration from the iconic Strand Hotel in Yangon. With exceptional standards of comfort, discreet personalised service, and design touches the cruise combines the character of the Strand in its heyday as a meeting place for explorers and raconteurs with the latest technology such as individually controlled air conditioning and satellite WI-FI throughout the ship.
WHY WE LIKE IT
With a maximum of 54 passengers, the ship delivers an intimate boutique experience. Therefore, the onshore itineraries are flexible and adjustable to suit needs.
The Strand Cruise travels upstream and downstream from Bagan to Mandalay. The cruise from Bagan is three nights, downstream from Mandalay is four nights. These shorter cruises pack a punch with visits to the most revered sites of Mandalay, and awe-inspiring temples of Bagan. The ship will run from July to April every year.
new for 2018 themed river cruises
In addition to its regular sailings, The Strand Cruise has recently added a series of themed cruises sailing throughout 2018. Each departure will follow The Strand Cruise’s scheduled four-night Bagan-Mandalay itinerary, but be enhanced by the presence of professional experts hosting each voyage and presenting additional activities on board and during shore excursions designed to enrich passengers’ experience of Myanmar.
Lifestyle Cruises – 9 March and 5 October 2018
The regular excursion programme is complemented with morning yoga, meditation, trekking and e-biking. In the evenings enjoy relaxed pool parties with a soundtrack provided by guest DJs, black tie dinners and silent discos.
Family Cruise Offers – 29 January and 23 December
Take a break from exploring ashore, and join in with group activities. Parents are free for a few hours to visit a nearby temple or book a spa treatment. Movie and game nights are arranged to allow parents to have some adult dining time. One child up to 15 years of age can stay free on the family dedicated departures when sharing a Strand cabin with two adults.
Photography Cruise – 26 March and 17 September 2018
Lucas Guardjian joins you on the Strand to improve your skills as a photographer. Recieve tuition on different styles of photography, tips on framing, lighting, aperture and depth of field as well as post-production techniques.
