Belmond Maroma is a secluded coastal hideaway surrounded by acres of jungle reserve. The hotel is on a beautiful white beach opposite the world's second largest barrier reef, which provides excellent conditions for water sports.
There are 63 spacious rooms with king-size beds and sunken baths, each decorated with hand-painted tiles and original art. All rooms open out onto private terraces strung with hammocks and there are deliberately no TVs in any of the rooms.
The open-air restaurant has ocean views and serves fresh seafood and regional Yucatan dishes while the treatment rooms at Kinan Spa offer ancient Mayan healing treatments alongside yoga classes. Additional facilities include two tennis courts, a jungle observation tower, three swimming pools, and scuba diving or snorkel equipment hire.
why we Like it
We love Belmond Maroma for the unwavering service (formerly branded Orient Express). A reliable upscale beach resort with all the facilities, whether you are travelling as a couple, group of friends or as a family, there is something for everyone. They also get extra points, in our opinion, for having not succumbed to putting TVs in the rooms.
