Begin this phenomenal journey in the modern, developing city of Muscat. Recover from your flight with a dip in the Indian Ocean and a treatment at the spa at Shangri La Al Bandar Hotel. Once acclimatised and freshened up, a private chauffeur driven car will transfer you out of Muscat up into the Al Hajjar Mountains to stay at the Alila Resort in Jebel Al Akhdar. The journey traverses through spectacular scenery of dramatic peaks, gorges and wadis. During your stay in this region, visit the ancient town of Nizwa and the finest of Oman’s castles at Jabrin.

The next stage of the holiday provides a complete contrast, taking you into the vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand and dunes at Wahiba. Spend two nights in the desert in a private luxury camp and explore the variety of flora and fauna while dune driving through the wadis.

The return to Muscat takes the road along the coast where one might see sharks in the deep blue water or fleet footed Gazelle sprint across the landscape.

Board your private, fully crewed yacht from Muscat harbour and sail out to the Dimaniyat Islands, one of the best places to swim, snorkel and dive, abundant with birds, fish and turtles. The Islands feature stunning beaches and rocky cliffs. Spend a night in a private, luxury camp experiencing the tranquillity and peace of a desert island while being served exquisite cuisine and sleeping in exceptionally comfortable beds!

Back on board your yacht the following morning, head north towards the Musandam Peninsula in Northern Oman. Spend the night on board, with dedicated staff to tend to your every need. Sail alongside the dramatic coastline of Musandam, a wild and wonderful strip of land that stretches up into the Straits of Hormuz opposite Iran, with the Gulf of Oman on one side, the Persian Gulf on the other. Closer to the tip, the mountains rise 2000m along its spine, sweeping dramatically down to the sea with a series of fiords that have earned the peninsular the title of ‘Norway of the Middle East’. Disembark your yacht at the superb Six Senses Zighy Bay Hotel, which has its own marina.

During your stay at Zighy Bay the activities on offer are extensive. The diving is out of this world and a short drive up the coast allows picnics and snorkelling in clear turquoise water in remote bays beneath imposing limestone cliffs. Further outdoor activities range from trekking and climbing to mountain biking and kayaking are also on offer or simply relax in high luxury and spa comfort at Zighy Bay itself.

"Kate was calm and bent over backwards to accommodate my jitters about going to Kashmir in the light of tighter FCO guidelines just a few days before our departure. She was absolutely correct in advising against what I thought we should do. Several times during the holiday we said that, 'Kate was dead right about that!'."

"We asked for a rather particular kind of Indian holiday. You delivered it in full. Highlights? Honestly, each day was a highlight in itself. "
