Nowhere in the world does archaeological treasures quite like Egypt. From the Great Pyramids of Giza to the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Egypt has antiquities of such scale and beauty, they will leave you speechless. While the prospect of winter sun is appealing, it is the atmosphere and ambience of Egypt that is intoxicating. Join our group tour to Egypt in November and explore the exhilarating city of Cairo in the company of Sir Tony Robinson. After the buzz of Cairo take a small ship cruise on the Nile.
Departing from London Heathrow, your first day will be spent with time in Cairo, where this tour will be brought to life by the affable English actor, comedian, author and presenter, Sir Tony Robinson. Well known for playing Baldrick in the BBC comedy series Blackadder and later as a presenter for the incredibly successful Channel 4 series, Time Team and Channel 5's Egyptian Tomb Hunting, Tony will be on hand to give insight into the world of archaeological discovery. Along with Tony, you will be accompanied by accomplished Egyptologists, who will take you to explore one of the greatest wonders of the world - the ancient pyramids of Giza. You will also visit Memphis, the capital of Ancient Egypt before heading to Sakkara, the ancient burial ground. After the day exploring, a hosted dinner will be held at the Four Seasons First Residence with a pre or post dinner presentation by Tony.
You then fly to the city of Aswan to board the small five-star Nile cruise boat Sanctuary Sun Boat III on which you spend four nights. Along the way, you will stop to visit some of the most breath-taking heritage sites including Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, The Valley of the Kings and Queens and the Temple of Philae.

What is the accommodation like in Egypt?
During your time in Cairo, you will stay at the luxurious Four Seasons First Residence Hotel, perfectly situated on the Giza side of Cairo, not too far from the iconic pyramids. The rooms, facilities and services are of a very high standard and have views towards the Nile.
The Sanctuary Sun Boat III is a luxury motor-boat, chartered exclusively for Steppes Travel. With a maximum capacity of 36 passengers on board, the Sanctuary Sun Boat III offers a very personal service and provides a luxury platform from which to discover the jewels of the Nile.
IS THIS TOUR SUITABLE FOR SOLO TRAVELLERS?
Our group tours are perfect for solo travellers, as travelling as part of an organised group in faraway places does provide security and peace of mind. We handle all of the arrangements for you and there will be a local tour guide on hand throughout to provide advice and help if needed, as well as the expertise of a tour expert.
If you are willing to share, we will always do our best to match you up with another solo traveller of the same sex so that you do not have to pay for a single room and cabin.
If you would prefer the privacy of your own room and cabin and would like this guaranteed, then the single supplement will apply. On the cruise, there are only three single rooms available - two Luxury Nile and one luxury Promenade cabins.
What will the weather be like in November?
November is a lovely month to visit Egypt. The average daily temperature in Cairo is 20 degrees, but can reach highs of 25 degrees. Temperatures in Aswan and Luxor will be slightly higher, reaching highs of 28-30 degrees during the day.
Do I need to be physically fit to join this Egypt cruise?
You will need to be of average physical fitness, able to walk up to a mile unaided. At the Valley of the Kings and Queens, there are steep inclines up and down into the tombs.
What should I be wearing on board?
You can leave your ballgown at home for this small ship cruise on the Nile. The onboard dress code is relatively casual. You may wish to dress up for dinner, but for men, a jacket and tie is not essential. The temperature drops at night, particularly on the river so a shawl/pullover may be required if out on the deck.
Are there dress codes for men and women in Egypt?
Onshore, ladies must cover their shoulders and we advise you wear long-sleeved cotton shirts and long trousers or skirts below the knee. Headscarves aren’t required, although useful for shielding your head from the sun. Hats, sunglasses and comfortable walking shoes are of course necessary.
Can I extend my stay in Egypt before or after the group tour?
If you are interested in visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Abu Simbel, or extending your stay in Cairo, please speak to one of our Egypt experts who will happily help you with this.
