Loldia House

Staying at this charming colonial homestead is like stepping back in time, offering a personal welcome (and freshly baked cake) that wins you over the minute you arrive. The main house offers 4 en-suite rooms, tucked away in a small garden courtyard and the original guest cottage nearby offers a little more privacy, surrounded by colourful flowers, looking out over and a beautifully manicured lawn.

Slightly further up the hill sits Loldia Cottage, with fantastic views across lake Naivasha and perfect for larger groups of families.

Each of the traditional, cosy rooms are tended by a butler who lights your fire each evening, and the thick rugs and feather duvets make the rooms the perfect place to unwind after a day spent exploring the lakes or the nearby flower farms. The main house is nestled amongst a garden bursting with colour, where breakfast and lunch can be taken on the lawn in the shade of the trees filled with birds, whilst impala and hippo graze on the lake shore only metres away as Scottie (the lodge retriever) hovers nearby waiting for attention. Dinner is a social affair, with pre-dinner drinks in the drawing room, rich in history and character, before superb hosting, lively conversation and delicious food, rounds off the perfect day.

Why We Like It

The style and character of this lodge is very traditional and in keeping with this is good old-fashioned hosting. Drinks around the fire pre-dinner in the drawing room, filled with family potraits and vases overflowing with fresh flowers, this lodge stays true to it's colonial roots and is all the more delightful as a result. A slice of old Kenya that will win you over.
