Giraffe Manor is a beautiful, eccentric country house located in an upmarket suburb of Nairobi, a hop and skip from major attractions. Originally built in 1932, and saved from dereliction in 1974 by US conservationist Betty Leslie-Melville and her husband Jock.
Giraffe Manor has two main buildings - the original Manor House with six bedrooms, and Garden Manor, a four bedroom annexe, all beautifully decorated. There aren't many places you stay where a giraffe is likely to pop its head through the window and steal a bit of your breakfast.
