Laikipia Wilderness Camp

Laikipia Wilderness Camp, with views of Mount Kenya, is run by Steve and Annabelle Carey. Steve is a Zimbabwean guide and keen ornithologist and he and Annabelle have been running safaris in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Kenya for 20 years.

The simple tented camp has just 5 simply furnished, spacious tents in a wonderful position overlooking the Ewaso Narok river in an area rich in wildlife and birds. the main mess tent is a large canvas room, with wicker chairs and tables with expansive views across the plains. Expect home style hospitality and real adventure in the bush with game-drives, night-drives, walking, tracking wild dogs and lions, fishing, swimming in the river, picnics and fly-camping with no sign of anybody else during your stay.

Why we like it?

The camp, (like the owner) is full of character and offers a chance to experience a genuine bush safari. The camp is most famous for its walking safaris and in particular the chance to get close to the enigmatic wild dogs. Steve and Annabelle are also exceptional hosts - a brilliant little bush camp where its all about the wildlife.
