4 C's
Each activity at Segera observes the 4C's from wildlife monitoring and species conservation, to renewable energy and recycled water effort; from community training , employment and cultural preservation to using locally grown and purchasing from socially responsible wine cultivars. The 4C concept brings together conservation, community and culture within the realm of commerce..

Stretching from the rim of the Great Rift Valley to Mount Kenya, the Laikipia Plateau offers a truly great safari experience, allowing you to get away from the crowds and into a remote and untouched slice of Africa.

From fertile savannah to the wild shores of Lake Turkana, the area has a wide range of landscapes, including high plains and low forested valleys. Home to more endangered species than anywhere else in East Africa, this is the place to see African wild dogs - set against a rugged and dramatic wilderness.

Day 3

Game Drive and Walk
Segera's location right in the heart of the Laikipia region ensures that, despite all of the activities on offer, wildlife remains at the heart of it all. Home to a vast array of wildlife, Segera provides an important corridor for the migration of the elephants found here - essential for the effective management of game in the region.

In addition to the stunning drives and walks on offer here, you can join the Conservation Unit rangers as they monitor, track and observe wildlife or perhaps join a foot patrol looking for Patas monkeys. Wild dogs are also found here, along with many of the big cats.

Visit to SATUBO
Today, perhaps visit the community-based enterprise group, SATUBO. Here, local women both earn an income and preserve their culture by creating beautiful beadwork. Three tribal groups, the Samburu, Turkana and Borana are united and you are able to talk with them to get an insight into their culture and community, as well as witness the revival of a craft that is age-old.

Day 5

Perhaps, enjoy an afternoon at the Wellness Centre, a variety of luxurious holistic treatments and therapies are available together with a saltwater swimming pool to cool off after your game drive. For those with more energy you can also find a state of the art gymnasium.

Galleries and Art
Explore the breadth of African art and culture in Segera's beautiful surroundings. The Zeitz Collection is considered one of the leading collections of contemporary art from Africa and the diaspora in the world today.

The Sculpture Garden was constructed in 2012 and has monumental works forged from bronze, stone and steel, as well as land installations and outdoor projections. Works on show here include pieces from Chris Ofili and Marlene Dumas, and the joy of Segera lies in exploring the grounds to see what you find.

From the numerous gardens and the poolside, to the stable-turned-gallery, there is always something waiting to be discovered. At night, many of the pieces are cleverly lit, adding atmosphere and magic to this already fascinating collection.

Day 6

Travel from Laikipia to Masai Mara (Air Transfer Journey)

The Masai Mara is an iconic safari destination. Famous for countless wildlife documentaries, the wildlife viewing here remains the best in Africa. Over the course of a few days, it is possible to see almost every animal indigenous to the region, with notable highlights being the well-established prides of big cats and the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest, one of the world's most spectacular wildlife events.

There is always something to see and every month can offer spectacular wildlife drama - the open plains and endless skies are a photographer's dream.

Adjoining the Serengeti in Tanzania and forming the northern end of the great migration ecosystem, this is the traditional land of the Maasai people. A visit also offers a chance to encounter this nomadic tribe, who offer a fascinating cultural dimension to the area.

Everybody has an opinion on the Mara, but it remains the best place in Africa for consistently superb big game viewing and should not be missed.
