Islands of Japan Adventure Holiday

Explore the island archipelago off Japan

9 days

from £2,850pp (excluding flights)

A true adventure to an island archipelago hidden in the Pacific Ocean.

  • Go whale watching, swim with dolphins & see green turtles
  • Spend the nights star gazing with mesmeric star-studded skies
  • Trek through lush forests spotting birdlife en route
  • Sea Kayak to hidden coves & beaches and dive on some of the world's most exceptional sites
  • Dive the waters around the islands alongside schools of dogtooth tuna, migratory fish, mantas and turtles

This holiday to Japan visits the little known and remote Ogasawara Island chain, 30 tropical, volcanic islands located over 1000km’s south of Tokyo. Isolated from any mainland they have been designated a World Natural Heritage area and are home to some diverse and unique flora and fauna as well as stunning mountain and coastal landscapes.

After a night in Tokyo board your boat and settle into your ensuite cabin for the 25 hour journey across the Pacific Ocean to the island of Chichijima, one of only 2 islands within the archipelago to be inhabited.

Spend the next 3 nights at a local guesthouse exploring the forests and white sandy beaches of the island, snorkelling, hiking, sea kayaking and whale watching. Both humpback and sperm whales frequent the waters around these islands at certain time of the year.

Start and end this holiday in Tokyo with the chance to explore one of the world’s most fascinating and vibrant cities.

Boats from Tokyo to the islands operate once a week all year and twice a week during the Japanese holiday season. It is also possible to embark on a longer stay spending time on the other island of Hahajimamaru which offers an even more remote experience!
