Day 1

Day at leisure in Denpasar

You will be staying at Segara Village, bed and breakfast

Day 2

This morning meet for a quick breakfast in a nearby cafe before travelling to the village of Amed in the eastern regency of Karangasem, an exotic area of forests, mountains, emerald rice terraces, mystical water palaces and pretty beaches. Stop at Tenganan Village, a community still adhering to the ancient 'Bali Aga' culture of traditions, ceremonies and rules. Also visit and the royal water palace of Tirta Gangga, a fabled maze of cold-water pools and tiered pagoda fountains, stone carvings and lush gardens.

Tonight, will be spent in the shadow of the mighty volcano, Gunung Agung at a traditional Balinese hotel. Spend the afternoon relaxing, swimming or taking a gentle walk. This evening enjoy sunset drinks and a Balinese-style dinner with fellow guests, in preparation for the voyage ahead.

The "Island of the Gods" is worthy of all the praise that is so often heaped upon it. There are few places in the world that have remained so completely true to their culture in the face of such an influx of tourists. Having said that, even today you don't have to go far off the beaten track to find timelessly traditional villages and tropical valleys that are rife with jungle vegetation.

Day 3

After a leisurely morning at the hotel transfer the short distance to the boat. After boarding and a chance to settle in the boat will head off for a snorkel on the local reefs. Back on-board head east in the direction of Sumbawa across the Lombok Strait. This deep trench of water between Bali and Lombok marks part of the Wallace Line, which was first described by Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, the renowned Victorian naturalist. Lunch will be served with plenty of time to relax. Sunset drinks will be served this evening.

Kenawa to Moyo
Awake off the beautiful island of Kenawa in West Sumbawa, with time to explore the islands beaches grasslands and corals, paddleboard, snorkel and swim throughout the morning. After lunch the boat will sail the 10 miles east to Bungin Island, home to a group of Bajau ‘Sea Gypsies’, famous for living entirely off the sea, giving a rare opportunity to experience a lesser seen part of Indonesian culture. Later in the afternoon set sail for Moyo Island.

Day 5

This morning moor off Labuan Aji village on the island of Moyo. Visit the village and walk to Diwu Mba'i waterfall. From here visit Satonda, a volcanic island with a sunken crater lake which filled with saltwater when nearby Mt Tambora erupted in 1815. The eruption was roughly four times the size of the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa. The seas surrounding the island are rich with soft and hard corals and colourful tropical fish and the skies at dusk full of flying foxes leaving the island to feed on the mainland, returning before first light the next day. Immediately after sunset, leave for an overnight passage east.

Moyo Island is a nature reserve east of Bali in the Flores Sea and home to the stunning Amanwana. This protected marine park offers some of the best snorkelling in the region and looks out towards the mountains of Sumbawa in the south and Medang Island in the north-west.

Day 6

Pulau Sangean/Banta
Awake to see Pulau Sangean, an active volcano towering 1,800 metres above sea level. After breakfast venture ashore. Because of the active nature of the volcano, the island is only inhabited for short periods when the local people come to tend their crops and buffaloes, which you will see swimming in the sea. This island is also home to traditional boatbuilders and is where Sea Trek's vessels were built. Snorkel amongst the bubbling volcanic gasses before continuing to the island of Banta and its pure white sand beach for a relaxed afternoon. Later today cruise onwards to Komodo dragon country.

Day 7

Komodo National Park
This morning, the boat will anchor off Komodo Island, one of approximately 80 islands that make up the Komodo National Park. Go ashore at Loh Liang for an early morning ranger-led trek through the park in search for Komodo dragons. Returning to the boat, cruise round the coast to Pantai Merah 'red-beach,' which takes its name from the particles of red coral mingled with the sand. This beach is home to one of the richest reefs in Eastern Indonesia. Later this afternoon the boat will head to Makassar Reef, to search for manta rays, and the chance to snorkel with these gentle giants if spotted. Finish the day at Gili Lawa Darat with a magical sunset.

The Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site consisting of 3 larger islands (Komodo, Padar and Rinca) and 26 smaller ones, many of which are uninhabited. Komodo and Rinca are home to the native Komodo dragons, respected by locals who believe they descend from one born to a dragon princess centuries ago. The islands turn from lush green to arid throughout summer, contrasting against the vivid blue of the sea. The tropical waters of Komodo National Park have long been famous as one of the most species-rich tropical underwater environments on earth.

Day 8

Komodo National Park
Today visit Rinca Island in search of more Komodo dragons. Rinca is also well known for its diverse wildlife - monkeys, wild buffaloes and deer as well as breath-taking scenery. This afternoon choose from various activities such as snorkelling on the beautiful Siaba Island, visiting peaceful Kelor Island or the adjacent island of Kukusan, home to another community of 'sea-gypsies'. This evening will be spent enjoying a final night's beach barbecue on an uninhibited island. With a raging bonfire, great food, this end-of-cruise celebration under the stars is a quintessential Sea Trek experience.

Day 9

Komodo NP/Labuan Bajo
For early risers there will be time for a last swim and snorkel, before cruising into Labuan Bajo harbour. At about 09:00 depart the boat for Melo Village. Here, local 'strongmen' will perform the 'Caci,' a ritual whip-fight between two rivals in which the players, each armed with a rattan shield and a whip, will try to hit each other while dancing to the rhythm of traditional acoustic instruments. After the performance lunch will be served on board before transferring to the airport for onward flights.
