Chambal Safari Lodge

The Chambal Safari Lodge is an old colonial-era building which has been lovingly restored by your hosts Anu and Ram Pratab Singh. The lodge includes 10 ensuite rooms in separate cottages, 2 luxury air-conditioned suites in the old building and 2 further suites in a newly built cottage.

The mighty Chambal River is best explored by boat. You are guided by expert naturalists to see the birds and animals in and around the river. Walking safaris can also be arranged on the banks of the river as well as the surrounding farmland. For a more cultural Indian trip, you can also visit the rural villages around the lodge and nearby sites such as the ancient Bateshwar Temples and Fort Ater, by camel and jeep safari.

Why we like it

Chambal Safari Lodge is fast getting a name for itself as an ideal retreat between cities, allowing time out from the busy Rajasthan circuit. You can even consider making Chambal a home from home whilst you visit the Taj Mahal and enjoy the personal attention and warmth of a family home. A stay here warrants at least 2 nights, due to the undeniably special location, previously hidden for centuries and accessible now due to the determination of Anu and Rams explorations. Our personal highlights are many but we stress a visit to Ater Fort or Bateshwar Temples should not be missed. This area of India barely registers on the tourist circuit which in itself is the joy of Chambal.
