Located in the heart of the ancient city of Leh, the Grand Dragon Hotel's design takes inspiration from traditional Ladakhi architecture. Its white-washed walls and beautiful timber window frames blend in with the buildings of Old Leh.
The hotel's 50 comfortable rooms feature attractive wooden floors and offer panoramic views of the surrounding Ladakhi landscape.
The Grand Dragon is set in the capital of Leh, at 11,500 feet above sea level.
One of the first star rated hotels in the city, and still the leading hotel of choice. Owned and managed by the ever-obliging Abdu family and their staff, the hotel in well maintained gardens offers two restaurants and a bakery. In terms of facilities don’t expect a pool, spa or business centre. This is Leh, where Wi-Fi connectivity comes and goes; however, the smiles on the faces of friendly staff seem to last throughout your stay.
The rooms vary with some offering views of the panoramic Stok mountain range and others have balconies looking out towards the region's snowy peaks. We prefer the upper levels with rooms facing the mountains. Please note the rooms are not air conditioned. This is ample for most months of the year; however it may feel warm in July and August in the afternoons.
