Shakti 360 Leti is found in a little known and compellingly beautiful corner of India. It is found high in the Himalayas at over 7000 ft, about one hour's walk from the nearest road.
There are just four stone cottages designed by a local architect and the main lodge is eco-friendly with contemporary touches. Indoors, there's gourmet cooking, fine wine and a cosy fireplace, as well as beds adorned with pashmina blankets and fluffy duvets. Outdoors, there are mountain walks, treks, and camping experiences. Laze in planter’s chairs and enjoy the views and sunshine or maybe pack fishing gear and a picnic lunch and hike down to the river.
Why we like Shakti 360 Leti
Soak in the views often reserved only for intrepid explorers, whilst in the lap of luxury and solar-powered eco-living.
- Four futuristic glass wood and stone cabins are perched on a remote mountain top
- There is no mobile or internet signal in this region
- Meal times are flexible and served in the communal living and dining area
- Enjoy fresh organic food and fine wines whilst dining around the campfire under the stars
Guided walks are available from the camp. Walk to the Shiva Temple whilst passing villagers. To really explore this region on foot, why not add the additional hiking option of a one to five day Shakti Kumaon village walk either to or from Leti 360. Staying overnight in one of the local village houses gives an insight into the local culture of this remote region.
It is not easy reaching Shakti 360 Leti. It certainly doesn't lend itself to a one night stop off point. An overnight train journey to Kathgadom or a flight to Almora, followed by a one-hour hike in from the small village of Leti brings you to this hideaway in the hills. Open from 1 October to 30 April every year.
