Tailor-Made Holiday

Highlights of Western Cuba Holiday

A selection of highlights including Vinales.

9 days

from £2,335pp (excluding flights)

For those looking for a few highlights, of what is a surprisingly large island, this holiday idea is pleasant mix of city and country without having to travel too far.

  • Experience the buzzing capital city of Havana, a heady mix of jazz, cocktails and colonial charm where art galleries could be mistaken for nightclubs
  • Explore the beautiful Viñales Valley where ox and cart still plough the fields
  • Stay with a local family for a rich Cuban experience

Spend time in the lively capital city Havana where you can explore the old town by foot and then take a classic car to see sites such as Revolutionary Square. Communications are opening now and a burgeoning class of Cubans are taking over the capital. Many offer their exclusive apartments to rent, or open their homes with private art collections to hungry diners, there is no question bed and board is firmly catered for.

Your journey continues into the countryside to the pretty Viñales Valley. an area most famous for tobacco growing. Here you will have impressive views of the towering mogotes (limestone cliffs). In contrast to Havana, the pace is a little slower and the lifestyle a little simpler, but by no means less enriching. Stay with a local family for the greatest insight into Cuban life. Bird watching and hiking are excellent in the area.

Finally return to Havana for one last evening before flying home.

If you'd like to extend this holiday then we suggest kicking back on the white sands of Cayo Levisa reached by boat. Relax for a few nights waking up to the sound of the waves lapping just feet from your door.

Day 1

Fly London to Havana

Romantic, beautiful and fascinating, Havana is a must for anyone's visit to Cuba. Fortifications, colonial buildings and churches tell of a rich history, whilst a Communist regime and erosion from the sea lend a faded glory to the city. The old heart gives way to Soviet starkness, whilst the 1950s playground of Vedado, neighbours the historic mansions of Miramar. Quite simply, stunning.
