A week’s intense safari in the heart of one of nature’s most remarkable spectacles. In early February the plains of the Southern Serengeti are choked with unending charcoal lines of wildebeest, numbers which are swelled by thousands as the calves are born opening the larder door gaping wide for the cheetahs and lions that prey on these comparatively easy pickings.
It is wrong to think of the migration experience as simply witnessing a few river crossings. It is more about being among hundreds of thousands of snorting and stotting animals as they gather in the mineral-rich grasslands of Tanzania before assembling for their journey North. Photographically it is nirvana, and has been carefully selected by Paul and the experienced Steppes team.
The exclusive mobile camp is positioned specifically for this phenomenon, offering a remote yet exciting corner of the Serengeti far away from the heavier traffic in Ndutu and other well known calving areas. Photographically it is superb, with spacious vehicles and complete flexibility on timings and off-road driving where permitted. Paul’s reputation for working harder and delivering is well known but even he seems more excited than ever about this project.
