Galapagos Diving Boats

Diving in the Galapagos Islands is an incredible experience and considered one of the best dive sites in the world due to the immense diversity of marine life. Dive with whale sharks, hammerheads, rays, sea lions, marine iguanas and even penguins to name a few.

The Galapagos Islands is not for beginners, it is only for advanced divers due to the strong currents, cold water and at times limited visibility. Those wanted to dive should have experience in currents, 50-100 open water dives, ability in removing gear in water and to be able to get into a small boats in choppy seas.

One of the best areas in the Galapagos Islands for diving is Wolf and Darwin islands in the north west of the archipelago. The only way to reach these legendary dive sites is by live-aboard boat due to the remote location. It is in these waters that whale shark, hammerheads, bottle nose dolphins, Galapagos shark, rays, sea turtles and huge schools of fish are found. Live-aboard boats offer up to four dives a day on a seven night itinerary and most include a couple of land excursions.

For those not wanting a full week of diving then stay on one of the inhabited islands and make excursions to nearby islands for the day. Regulations in the Galapagos National Park mean that occasional diving is not allowed on the naturalist live-aboard cruises, those that make the guided daily land excursions. However it is possible to arrange a day of diving when in port, forego the regular group excursion and travel with a dive instructor to nearby islands at an additional cost. Snorkelling is offered most days which is a great option as there is so much to see just under the surface.
