Sacha Lodge offers a rainforest lodge experience on the banks of Pilchicocha Lake, downstream from Rio Napo. Nestled deep within a private 5000-acre reserve, reaching the lodge by a combination of motorised river boat, hiking and canoeing, is an adventure in itself.
An elevated boardwalk leads to 26 individually thatched-cabins, each with a shady terrace hung with hammocks. Cabins are fully screened and interiors are bright and spacious with sustainable wood furnishings. Explore the jungle, swim in the lake pool or join the birds and monkeys on the canopy walkway.
Located in the depths of the Ecuadorian rainforest, on the banks of the River Napo. A 25-minute light aircraft flight from Quito to Puerto Francisco de Orellana followed by a 2-hour river journey by motorised canoe.
A stay at Sacha Lodge is all about the jungle experience with entertainment taking the form of squirrel monkeys swinging through the trees above. To make the most of the rainforest the hotel provides all guests with rubber boots and ponchos. There is also a lake pool for a cooling swim and an atmospheric bar and restaurant area serving buffet style dining.
Sacha Lodge has fantastic wildlife viewing facilities, most notably the magnificent canopy bridge suspended at a height of 94 feet over the rainforest. There is an equally impressive 135 feet observation tower that clings to a giant kapok tree and offers close encounters with several exotic species of bird. Night walks and nature trails take you into the rainforest while the site itself is home to one of the largest butterfly breeding farms.
