Dunes, Gobi Desert, Mongolia

Gobi Desert

The Gobi is bounded by the Altai mountains and the grasslands and steppes of Mongolia on the north, by the Tibetan Plateau to the southwest, and by the North China Plain to the southwest.

The word Gobi in Mongolian means desert. Unlike the Sahara there are few sand dunes; rather you’ll find large barren expanses of gravel plains and rocky outcrop.

Clare Wiggins

My love for Asia began with living there. Based in Vietnam and then Malaysia, I also explored the surrounding regions before eventually finding my way back home via China and the Trans-Siberian railway. At Steppes Travel, I get to share that love for Asia every day, helping clients experience the places I know best as if they were locals themselves.
