River Nile, Aswan, Egypt

Aswan

Aswan is as far south as you can go before entering the desert, Nubia and Sudan. It is, effectively, where Egypt ends and offers visitors many different activities and sights.

Aswan is the launchpad for excursions across Lake Nasser and the desert to Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This can be done by air or for those wanting a more leisurely pace it is also possible to cruise Lake Nasser and visit the monuments relocated on its shores.

The pace is a little slower, it is a little warmer, and you will notice the Nubians, who have darker skin and are often taller in height.

Katie Benden

The excitement of travelling the world has always hugely appealed. Largely cemented from my first solo trip to Egypt and the Middle East. The crazy hustle and bustle of Cairo was a huge assault on the senses, scrambling through the claustrophobic tunnels of the Great pyramid took me out of my comfort zone and I was left humbled by the warm hospitality of the Nubian people in Aswan as we shared dinner together.

Tom Frost

Having travelled to different parts of the world over the years it never ceases to amaze me how you constantly learn and evolve from the adventures you experience. I adore working in an environment where I can share my passion for the world and discuss fascinating stories both from my experiences and that of our clients. In the past year I’ve delved into the wintery beauty of St Petersburg, trekked through the colourful desert in Jordan and sailed down the iconic Nile in Egypt.

The choice of accommodation was absolutely excellent throughout! Mohamed Saad, our guide from Luxor onwards, was outstanding and should be recommended strongly. We also hired an ornithological expert ( Shaban ) for a morning - excellent.

I really felt like Tom Frost listened and did his very best to meet my demands.  Very soon I was trusting him implicitly and placing a high value on his advice.  I am so glad I did!
