My travels were first inspired by my love of the UK, which I take as much pleasure in exploring as countries far and wide. For me, travel is all about the adventure, the people I meet and the food I sample along the way.

The village of Gangtey overlooks the Phobjikha Valley, a wide glacial vale in altitudinous central Bhutan. Free of trees and contrasting strongly with the narrow valleys that are synonymous with Bhutan, this idyllic expanse is one of the most beautiful parts of Bhutan.
Overlooked by the impressive Gangtey Gompa, the area is renowned for its black-necked cranes. These rare birds escape the cold Tibetan winters by sheltering in this lush valley.
Visit the Crane Information Centre, where you will receive detailed information regarding the Phobjika Valley and the black-necked cranes. The centre is also equipped with binoculars to watch the cranes. There will also be a chance to watch a 15 minute documentary about the endangered black-necked cranes.
It is worth spending a few days in this area as it offers some lovely day hikes, the perfect opportunity to stretch your legs after some long winding car journeys.
