Zagreb and Northern Croatia
A thriving arts, music and food scene but also celebrates its rich past.
Life on Losinj offers the classic Mediterranean holiday: gourmet food, chilled Istrian wines, warm clear seas and uncrowded beaches.
The crowds flock to Croatia every summer – but one island has been curiously overlooked.
Once a shipping hub, Losinj Island is now perfectly located for yacht charters, with many small islands nearby and the famous Kornati Labyrinth a short sail away.
With the opening of stylish, exquisite boutique hotels and a scattering of private villas, the tiny island of Losinj is finding its way onto the holiday map – up until now Croatia’s best-kept secret amongst the sailing fraternity.
Losinj is located in the beautiful Kvarner Gulf of Croatia, in the Northern Adriatic and has no airport, a factor that has helped it keep its obscurity. The island is reached by flying to either Rijeka or Krk, followed by a transfer to the port to catch a ferry or catamaran. Getting there is half the fun. Losinj is 20 miles long by two miles wide – lending itself to hiking, biking and windsurfing with many trails crisscrossing the island.
