Closer to The Uluru (Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park), Red Centre, Australia

Uluru and The Red Centre

A visit to Australia’s Red Centre will present you with the deep red colours of dusk and the subtle orange of dawn, displaying the outback and the sacred sites of Uluru and the Olgas at their very finest.

Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park is a World Heritage Site, owned by the local Anangu Aboriginal people and managed by Parks Australia in cooperation with them.

Uluru, known for many years as Ayers Rock, holds a significant place in the Anangu people’s creation stories and laws, which are known as Tjukurpa and many of these stories relate to how the ancestral beings formed the Rock. The angular ridges and dry creek beds of the MacDonnell Ranges also provide some of the oldest landscape in the world. This region remains as it did 60 million years ago.

Clare Wiggins

My love for Asia began with living there. Based in Vietnam and then Malaysia, I also explored the surrounding regions before eventually finding my way back home via China and the Trans-Siberian railway. At Steppes Travel, I get to share that love for Asia every day, helping clients experience the places I know best as if they were locals themselves.
