Indigenous Peoples

Venture deep into the Amazon Rainforest and spend time with its indigenous people.

Why we like it

Sail atop the rivers of the Amazon Rainforest in a panoramic riverboat-style vessel, trekking through dense forests and being immersed in indigenous cultures while still having the option to relax in an al fresco jacuzzi. To offset the heat and humidity of the rainforest, spend time in the high-altitude colonial capital city of Quito and in the crisp Avenue of the Volcanoes to marvel at the snow-capped Andean Mountains. Venture deep into the enchanting and little-visited Amazon Rainforest, interacting with indigenous communities and spotting incredible wildlife from dugout canoes. Participate in three daily guided excursions that include hiking through lush vegetation, watching as hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather to feast on mineral-rich clay pools, and wildlife watching from treetop canopy towers.

Don't forget, we will customise this journey to suit you.

Welcoming Community & Rainforest Wildlife

From swimming in meandering muddied waters and eating an Amazon-style barbecue at a riverside clearing to interacting with Kichwa communities and kayaking atop mysterious creature-inhabited tributaries, this journey through the rainforest is an enlightening and exhilarating experience that feels like something out of a childhood storybook. From elusive pink river dolphins to infamous piranhas, the largely unexplored rivers and jungles of the Ecuadorian Amazon are inhabited by countless species of exotic creatures that include chattering squirrel monkeys, ominous anacondas, primitive hoatzins and lurking caiman.

The Anakonda

In between adventure-filled Amazon escapades and after long and humid days spent in the rainforest, return to the luxurious comfort of the Anakonda. A traditional Amazonian river boat with the atmosphere and décor of a boutique hotel, the Anakonda is a panoramic vessel complete with observation deck and hot tub that travels as far as the Peruvian Amazon.

Avenue of The Volcanoes

Travel down a section of the Pan-American highway that is flanked by snow-capped active peaks and aptly named the Avenue of the Volcanoes. From the base of a charming traditional hacienda, travel to Cotopaxi National Park to follow one of many trails through the park on foot or on horseback, looking out for white-tailed deer, llamas and the giant Andean Condor.

Wander the cobbled streets of the city, visiting its artisan markets and perhaps venturing up Pichincha Volcano by cable car to take in stunning views of Quito from 4,100-metres.

Suggestion: Galapagos Islands Extension

To truly experience all that Ecuador has to offer, fly out to the remote and remarkable Galapagos Islands – the gem of Ecuador and a treasure of the world. The pristine archipelago, which is reachable in as little as two hours from the mainland, can be explored during eye-opening sailing voyages or through carefully planned island-hopping trips. For up close and personal encounters with fearless sea lions, penguins, tortoises, sharks, blue-footed boobies and marine iguanas (to name very few), these islands are unmissable.
