Staying at small, private lodges, this holiday explores the wildlife-rich landscapes of northern Botswana. Activities abound at these intimate properties, offering the chance to spot the flora and fauna of the Chobe National Park, Savuti Marshes, Selinda Reserve and Okavango Delta. Interact with the lodge owners and vastly experienced guides throughout the trip, learning about these fragile ecosystems that ripple with colourful, curious wildlife.
Begin with the mighty Chobe National Park, home to one of the largest concentrations of wildlife on the continent. Settle in to the Muchenje Safari Lodge, before setting out on foot, by boat or by 4x4 in search of buffaloes, elephants and other large mammals. After a few days of exploration, leave the Chobe River behind and fly south towards the intriguing Savuti Marshes. Staying at the Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge, explore this peculiar wetland landscape; drive through this patchwork quilt of marshes, savannah and grassland in search of wildebeests, elephants, lions, hyenas, zebras and more.
From the rugged Ghoha Hills, continue to the watery landscape of the Selinda Reserve. Take advantage of the numerous excursions on offer at the activity-driven Motswiri Camp; float through the reserve by boat or mokoro, fly camp amidst the verdant flora, spend time catch-and-release fishing and take horse-riding safaris.
Finish in the heart of the Okavango Delta, staying at the cosy Kanana Camp. Explore the delta’s rich landscape by motorboat or glass-bottomed mokoro and have the chance to spend a night sleeping out under the stars. Benefit from exclusive access to a nearby seasonal heronry, which fills with pink-backed pelicans, yellow-billed and marabou storks, grey herons, ibises and egrets between the months of July and December.
