Perched high on a mountain with panoramic views across the tumbling rice terraces below, Li-An Lodge is an entirely wooden structure which has been lovingly built using time-honoured building techniques of tongue and groove with no nails used! The 16 rooms are charming and traditional in style and most make the most of the breath-taking views.
Located in the Chinese village of Ping An perched above the cascading rice terraces of Longji and around a 2 and a half hour drive from the city of Guilin. On arrival at the lodge there is a 30 minute uphill walk to the lodge with porters available to assist with luggage.
A stay here is less about facilities and more about the experience and the location however Li-An Lodge does have a charming restaurant serving food based around the seasons and local produce.
This area of China is home to the Zhuang, Yao, Miao and Dong minority groups and there are several walking trails from the hotels leading to some of the local villages where the traditional cultures of these groups are still honoured. Dragon back rice terraces are considered one of the most amazing terraces in china and stunning whatever the season, flooded with water in spring, lush and green in summer, golden in the autumn and snow covered in the winter.
