Begin this family holiday in the beautiful and lively city of Rio de Janeiro. Visit the sights of the city such as Christ the Redeemer statue, get active on Ipanema beach with a surf lesson and explore the wonderful beaches the city is famous for by bike.


Next travel down the green coast to the sleepy fishing town of Paraty, a beautiful UNESCO world heritage town. Wander the cobbled streets with a guide and learn about the history of this area and what life is like today. A great place for relaxing and experiencing life in colonial times.

Ilha Grande

End the holiday in Brazil on a tropical island with over 100 beaches. Just a short journey from Paraty lies Ilha Grande, an island covered in virgin Atlantic rainforest and home to some incredible wildlife. Days can be spent exploring on one of the many trails that cross the island, look out for the brightly coloured parrots flying in the trees, listen to the roar of the howler monkey announcing the start of a new day or simply slow down and enjoy beach life.

Day 1

Fly London to Rio de Janeiro

As the Brazilians say, 'God made the world in six days, the seventh he devoted to Rio'. This vibrant and lively city is a fun place to spend some time, and offers something for everyone.

Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Rio's natural beauty is unsurpassable. Its magnificent shoreline, with its charming bays and beautiful beaches, is an important part of Rio social life and offers numerous outdoor activities from biking to surfing.

In the mountains above Rio, you will find the Tijuca national forest, the largest natural urban park in the world. The city's eight million inhabitants, known as 'Cariocas', are friendly, carefree people who always seem to find time for the pleasures of good living.

Day 2

Corcovado Visit, Surf Lesson and Bike Tour
Today visit one of the New Wonders of the World, the statue of Christ, on the top of the Corcovado mountain. Take a scenic ride in a cogwheel train through the Tijuca rainforest up to the summit at 700 metres with spectacular views of Rio.

Next head to Ipanema Beach and try surfing, a very popular sport in Rio. After time on the beach take a tour by bike along the beaches, a beautiful way to see Rio.

Day 3

Days at Leisure with Suggested Sightseeing
Days to explore Rio. Find below a selection of activities and excursions:- Learn how to Samba at a dance school;- People-watch on Copacabana Beach;- Watch a football match at Maracana Stadium;- Listen to live Bossa Nova in a restaurant in Ipanema;- Visit the botanical gardens and the avenue of imperial palms;- Visit Petropolis, the Summer Residence of the Imperial family of Brazil;- Board a cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain;- Admire the view from Corcovado below the statue of Christ;- Hire bicycles and explore the beaches;- Visit Santa Teresa, the bohemian quarter;- Explore the colonial historical quarter;- Relax on the beach and enjoy the day to day life of the Cariocas.

Day 4

Travel along the Costa Verde from Rio de Janeiro to Paraty

A journey of approx four hours.

Paraty is a small colonial port on a stunning stretch of jungle-clad coast two hours drive south of Rio. The beauty of this town is that it has something for everyone: renovated 18th century colonial architecture, shopping for ceramics and other local handicrafts and a varied coastline of sheltered bays, hidden beaches and private islands. There is also a delightful weekend music scene based on a variety of jazz and blues.

This is an idyllic spot in which to experience a taste of authentic Brazil.

Walking tour of Paraty
Walking tour through the historical center of Paraty. You will learn about the story of the city while passing through streets. The architecture is completely unique, with original characteristics from the harmonious architecture of the 18th century.

Day 6

Road then boat journey to Ilha Grande

Road transfer from Paraty to the Angra dos Reis, a journey of approximately one hour forty five minutes. Travel one and a half hours by ferryboat to Abraao, Ilha Grande.

Ilha Grande is a beautiful island within the Ilha Grande State Park. One and a half hours by boat from Angra dos Reis in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The island has over 100 unspoilt beaches, and almost 100 miles of walking trails linking the coastal villages and beaches through virgin Atlantic rainforest. It has a rich biodiversity with many endangered species including the brown howler monkey, manned sloth, red-browed amazon parrot. Opportunities exist to snorkel, sail, walk mountain trails, visit waterfalls or just relax on the beach.

Day 7

Visit to Lagoa Azul - Blue Lagoon
In the morning, depart by schooner boat to Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon), an amazing spot for snorkelling and swimming off the north coast of Ilha Grande. The Lagoa Azul is like a natural swimming pool with clear blue waters between two islands.

Day 9

Boat then road journey to Rio

Take a one and a half hour ferryboat back to Angra dos Reis then transfer by road to Rio. The road journey will be about two hours.
