This striking lodge is a world away from the traditional tented camp. Sculpted from beautifully pale wood, it mimics a pangolin's scales and curves with its contemporary design. Despite this eye-catching architecture, there is little doubt that Sandibe Safari Lodge is fully immersed in the delta, with trees erupting through its decks and wildlife wandering between the suites.
Located in the heart of the Okavango Delta, it sits within a private concession that borders the renowned Moremi Game Reserve. The 11 spacious suites look out over a clear-water channel, behind which the landscape is dotted with palm islands and eroded termite mounds. With permanent water close by, as well as drier plains, the area is perfect for exploration on land and by boat.
Why we like it
Sandibe’s beautiful design and eye-catching architecture mean it stands out instantly in a world of canvas and antiques. The traditional trappings of a safari may have gone out of the window, but there is little doubt that the wildlife and wilderness remain. Sandibe offers the quintessential delta experience, packed with colourful birdlife, stalking predators and rich vegetation, all amidst a bewildering maze of watery channels.
