Alternative boats
Our travel experts have years of knowledge and between them and have personally inspected or travelled on board many of the boats we offer.
A classic ship built in 1953 for the Swedish National Maritime Administration, Stockholm underwent a refit to make her a comfortable cruising vessel in 1998 and has since spent more than 20 years navigating Svalbard.
Carrying a maximum of 12 passengers in twin bunk bed cabins with private facilities and portholes, the vessel is a piece of maritime history that is known for being able to access the most difficult to reach regions that are inaccessible to larger ships.
With wooden decks and tasteful brass details throughout, Stockholm is an authentic vessel that appeals to adventurous travellers keen to get up close to Arctic wildlife. With so few people on board, travelling on Stockholm feels like travelling on a private yacht.
Its dedicated crew are a team of nature experts and enthusiasts, and their genuine passion for these northern waters is utterly contagious. What’s more, getting up close to the wildlife and wilderness is made easier because of their two zodiac boats.
