NaiSabah is a beautifully restored 75ft traditional Omani dhow, designed for private voyages through Kenya’s remote Lamu Archipelago, where mangrove creeks, secluded beaches and Swahili villages reveal a quieter side of East Africa.
Combining handcrafted Swahili design with understated comfort, the dhow is available exclusively for private charter and accommodates up to eight guests across three air-conditioned cabins, including a dedicated bunk room ideal for children. Spacious indoor and outdoor living areas create a relaxed atmosphere for families or small groups travelling together.
Sailing through the sheltered waters north of Lamu Island, NaiSabah reveals a quieter side of the Kenyan coast, where mangrove forests, coral reefs and traditional fishing villages shape the rhythm of daily life. What makes NaiSabah particularly special is the authenticity of the experience. Rather than a conventional beach stay, it offers a slower, more meaningful way to engage with Kenya’s coastline and Swahili heritage.
Each journey is tailored around the tides and guests’ interests, allowing for a flexible experience. Days can include snorkelling over vibrant coral gardens, paddleboarding through narrow creeks, fishing from the dhow, or stepping ashore to explore sleepy Swahili settlements and empty stretches of sand.
Through community-led conservation initiatives, the dhow contributes to the protection of fragile marine ecosystems while helping preserve Swahili culture and local livelihoods. Powered by solar energy and traditional wind sailing, NaiSabah champions a low-impact approach to exploring Kenya’s northern coastline.
