Lamanai Outpost Lodge is an amazing jungle hideaway, blending adventure, wildlife and culture with rustic charm and comfort. Lamanai oozes class and style with perfect attention to detail.
Perched on a hill overlooking the New River Lagoon, the lodge is also within easy access of the spectacular Maya ruins of the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve.
Each of the Outpost's wooden cabanas has a private bathroom and ceiling fans and has been designed to blend in with the surrounding tropical gardens and lagoon. There is an open-air restaurant serving local cuisine and a bar with panoramic views of the New River Lagoon. The food is exquisite.
The wealth and variety of birdlife is stunning from rufous-tailed humming bird to lineated woodpecker from osprey to jacana. On a three night stay you have the chance to see about 175 different species of birds.
Not only is the Outpost a wonderful place to relax and recharge, there are also a lot of varied and excellent activities. Their standard activities include watersports, howler trek, sunset cruise and a night walk. But best of all are their 'special adventures'. Start in the morning with a 'Jungle Dawn' walk, enjoy the 'Jungle Medicine and Village Life', visit 'Lamanai Maya Ruins, and in the evening either enjoy a nighttime 'Spotlight Safari' or best of all the 'Crocodile Encounter'.
Why we like it
All the fun of the jungle with no compromise in comfort or style. Magical.
"Truly one of my favourite places that I have stayed in the world," Justin Wateridge
