Literally in the middle of nowhere, The Prairie is a true outback hotel, set in the vast outback of South Australia with the Flinders Ranges on its doorstep. Guestrooms are simply furnished but comfortable and many take advantage of the views towards the Flinders Ranges.
The front bar has an authentic feel and remains a local watering hole. There is a quiet lounge for house guests as well as a swimming pool for hot, outback afternoons and the lunch and dinner menus provide innovative and excellent "feral" cuisine - think camel sausages, wallaby skewers, goat chops and kangaroo fillets.
Why we like The Prairie
Parachilna has an official population of two and a stay here is a chance to really experience some outback hospitality and the chance to rub shoulders with the locals.

With the Flinders Ranges on the doorstep, there are plenty of bushwalking and walking trails to explore as well as cycling trails. The historic mining town of Blinman is also worth a visit.
