Angola Serra de Leba, Angola

Angola Holidays

Culturally and geographically isolated, Angola is, for many, simply a blank space on the map. Most commonly connected with oil wealth and blood diamonds, it remains a stranger to tourism. But after decades of conflict, peace now reigns. Its interior – enormous and rich with spectacular landscapes – is waiting to be explored.

Angola is a new destination for us, and one which presents a number of challenges. Therefore, we are not currently offering tailor-made trips. However, we are considering a pioneering group tour, exploring the country in the company of one of our team members. This was due to depart in 2018 but has been postponed. View more information here.

A Little More About Angola

Wildlife has certainly paid the price for years of conflict and lack of protection, but parks are beginning to find some measure of rejuvenation. In particular, Kissama National Park, found south of the capital Luanda, has seen translocation of animals from South Africa, returning wildlife to the region.

However, Angola is far from a safari destination. It is the diversity of landscapes, rather than wildlife, that make it remarkable. In the south, the desert encroaches from Namibia; in the centre, dramatic rocky highlands rise above the savannah plains; and in the north, the country is engulfed by tropical rainforests.
