Located in the heart of the jungle, 1600km up the Amazon river, the history of Manaus is as exotic as its location. The fabulous wealth of this period led to the construction of the legendary opera house, where the most famous singers of the era performed.

The municipal market, designed after Les Halles in Paris, was built during the rubber boom, as was the custom house, designed and manufactured in Liverpool. However Manaus's main attraction, the rainforest, lies just outside the city, and boasts a wealth of exotic flora and fauna.
