Ultima Thule Lodge

Ultima Thule Lodge is an exclusive wilderness lodge within the wild and remote lands of the Wrangell-St.Elias National Preserve, the largest protected wilderness on earth. It offers the opportunity to explore this untamed landscape of glaciers, mountains and rivers that are grand, even in Alaskan terms.

The specialist activity at the lodge is adventures by plane, with no agendas, each day is determined by the weather, your mood and interests. The five cabins at this intimate lodge are hand crafted with local timber, each with two bedrooms, a sitting area and superb views of the Chitina River and surrounding mountains.

Located within the Wrangell-St.Elias National Park and 100 miles from the nearest road. The nearest city of Anchorage is over 350 miles west and the lodge itself is only reachable by air. The mining town of McCarthy is the nearest hopping off point, some 20 minutes’ flight away.

  • Dining room with floor to ceiling windows, serving Alaskan cuisine using largely organic and locally sourced ingredients.
  • Wood fired sauna
  • Communal sitting area with panoramic views

Endless options include skiing, fishing, rafting, wildlife watching, glacier trekking and hiking. One of the best ways to truly appreciate the scale of this vast area is to take to the skies on an air safari, landing amidst remote and pristine scenery where literally no one has been before.

 Why we like it

Ultima Thule Lodge is a comfortable and welcoming home from home amidst a true wilderness.
