Situated in the heart of Rajasthan, midway between Jaipur and Udaipur, Shahpura Bagh is an elegant family-owned estate and a fabulous retreat from which to explore rural Rajasthan and experience a gentle way of life.

Nine beautiful suites, including huge royal and luxury villa suites, are set amongst 50 acres of garden and pasture, surrounded by two lakes. Splashes of colour on the traditional white lime plaster floors are provided by handmade Kilims and old Kashmiri carpets and nostalgic family photography adorns the walls.

Whether relaxing by the pool or joining a cookery workshop Shahpura Bagh is very much a family concern offering a warm and relaxed environment.

Converted into a boutique, heritage hotel the Shahpura family welcome guests with such warmth and hospitality, that it is difficult to imagine leaving. Surrounded by a rich wetland full of birdlife and beautiful farmland, this is the perfect place to take a breath during a tour of Rajasthan.

Activities

There are loads of activities on offer during a stay at Shapura Bagh. Follow one of the lakeside walking trails on foot or by bike, get hands-on with a traditional Indian cookery lesson, take a boat out on the lake or visit a local village by bullock cart.

A visit to the family’s exclusive 450 year old and privately owned, Dhikola Fort is a must, a romantic and glorious location with far-reaching views across the countryside – we can even organise a private candlelit dinner situated on one of the turrets.

If feeling less energetic, join a gentle yoga class or recline into one of the hammocks and day beds that are located at scenic spots to relax, read or watch the sunset.

Sustainability

The in-room amenities are eco-friendly with all leftovers donated to the local communities and the hotel sources organic locally grown food wherever possible. The family has established a fund for scholarships for underprivileged children and donate regularly to the local village schools of Dhikola and Shahpura. Guests can also get involved with the philanthropy work if interested.
