Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is nestled in the foothills of the Virunga Massif.

With only five cottages, two suites and one family cottage, this lodge is certainly luxurious and exclusive. The enormous guest rooms have a large lounge area, stylish en-suite bathrooms, a separate dressing area and a sheltered veranda to take in the stunning views. The lodge, like the rooms, is constructed of local stone, finished with an ochre-coloured plaster and terracotta tiled roofs, giving the lodge an almost Mediterranean villa feel.

Activities

Venture into the national park to trek for gorillas, spot over 40 species of birds at and around the lodge with a guided birdwatching experience and enjoy an inspirational, guided, community walk to a local village.

Sustainability

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is contributing to the wildlife conservation project in Gishwati Forest. They have aided in the development of ecotourism activities in the forest and the creation of two hiking trails. The lodge also fields the costs for one of the tracking teams supporting the habituation and field research of a group of chimpanzees in the forest.
